As part of Red’s Hot Women 2009, we offered the chance to do one month’s paid work experience at some of the UK’s most exciting companies – including joining the team at Red. We also offered a digital makeover, courtesy of Google, to one existing online company.

Charlotte Griffin, 42, from north London, will be joining Red’s editorial team for a month. After working as lawyer, and spending the last seven years as a stay-at-home mum to her 6 and 7 year old sons, Charlotte is hoping to change direction and launch a career as a freelance writer.

Coty Prestige

Claire Redhead, 30, from Wolverton, is a marketing manager for Santander Savings & Investments. Keen to see if she can transfer her marketing skills to an industry that she’s passionate about, she is heading to one of the world’s largest beauty companies, Coty Prestige.

Hotel du Vin

Kathryn Simonds, 30, from Manchester, recently left British Airways where she worked as cabin crew. Passionate about hospitality and customer service, she will spend a month learning about the hotel industry from the experts at Hotel du Vin.

Net-a-porter

Currently a project manager at HSBC, Caroline Moloney, 29, from Dublin, has had a lifelong dream of a career in fashion. She’ll be swapping finance for shopping with leading online retailer net-a-porter.com.

Lawyer Karen Howard, 45, from Chelmsford, has always been fascinated by the media. Hoping to achieve a lifetime ambition of a career in journalism, she’ll get the chance to step behind the cameras when she spends a month at BSkyB.

GOOGLE DIGITAL MAKEOVER

Sandra Patterson, 37, from Ayrshire, has a business www.boxby.co.uk that offers couriers for personal and business jobs. The site is currently self designed and, with help from the experts at Google who will look at every aspect from web design to online marketing, Sandra hopes to take the business to the next level.
